Chief Software Architect & Lead Developer

Position Summary:

Dealfind is seeking a talented and experienced Chief Software Architect and Lead Developer to join the team!  The role will require working as part of the development team to create technical designs to drive business growth by providing a compelling web and mobile experience customized through the application of business analytics. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with large scale, high traffic e-commerce web applications using a variety of modern languages, frameworks, and open source technologies. 

Responsibilities:

  • Work with the business teams to find opportunities to leverage new technologies to drive differentiation.
  • Create, document and communicate system architectures to support the business.
  • Lead an Architecture Review Team to ensure feature designs comply with the system architecture.
  • Conduct Build vs. Buy assessments for key technical components.
  • Develop and adopt frameworks to ensure architectural currency.
  • Recommend investments to reduce technical debt, and/or manage its growth.
  • Maintain an active role as a programmer for technical challenging implementations.
  • Support the project manager with estimates and assessments of development effort.
  • Potentially manage a small team of architects.
  • Provide mentorship and professional development opportunities for the technical staff.

Qualifications:

  • Expert in PHP and Java programming; web, mobile and back-end systems design; modern design patterns, and a variety of development methodologies.
  • Experience with e-commerce technologies such as payment systems and PCI, affiliate management, personalization and recommendation engines, security and privacy
  • Experience in designing for scale and performance
  • Experience with big data analytics and their application to e-commerce
  • 10+ years of production programming experience in related technologies
  • Excellent communication skills.

Category Manager

Position Summary:
Dealfind is seeking a Category Manager with several years of sales and supplier management experience to drive tangible results.  The role will have responsibility for delivering on Dealfind’s revenue and margin goals.  This will include, but not be limited to, strategic sourcing, client stakeholder management, supplier performance management, and continuous cost and performance improvements.  This role requires the ability to manage multiple detailed tasks with urgency and accuracy and the ideal candidate needs to able to prioritize and re-prioritize work accordingly.  The ideal candidate is enthusiastic, driven and can work well independently in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. 

Responsibilities:

  • Prospect new lead and manage the execution of Category Management solutions such as SKU optimization, optimum product mix, etc.
  • Engage with suppliers’ senior management team to drive and communicate progress.
  • Measure and manage suppliers’ performance relative to contracted service levels.
  • Identify and resolve strategic supplier performance issues to ensure customer satisfaction. 
  • Manage the overall extensive online item selection process, assortment management, and profitability for a particular category. 
  • Meet sales, margin and turn goals for the assigned category. 
  • Provide weekly, and if necessary, daily sales, margin, and inventory analysis. 
  • Ensure timely response to all product quality issues. 
  • Stay current in functional area of expertise and provide ongoing updates to the senior management team on the category’s trend. Provide recommendations to stay ahead of the trends. 
  • Effectively communicate and interface with suppliers.
  • Design and create analytical reports on sales, margin, and inventory.  Create and implement corrective action plans as needed based on these reports.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or a related field of study. 
  • Highly motivated in closing a sale - you love to make commission! 
  • Prior experience with B2B cold calling. 
  • Highly organized and able to work independently.

Senior PHP Developer

Position Summary:

This role will work with the development team to provide technical design, development, and integration of the solutionwith the website.  The ideal candidate will be a proactive go-getter and will work with the technology team to continuously improve the website and user experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Contribute and follow implementation standards/procedures/best practices and help to enforce these on projects.
  • Develop web applications, features including leveraging and integrating 3rd party software, libraries and other solutions as necessary onDealfind.com website
  • Support testing and deployment activities with the QA and Operations team.
  • Resolve development issues for other team members
  • Provide guidance and coaching to junior staff

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 4 years of production programming experience working with objected oriented PHP code. MVC experience a bonus.
  • Experience with JavaScript frameworks such as jQuery 
  • Database development experience with MySQL, with a other experience such as Oracle or SQL Server is an asset
  • Strong leadership experience and excellent communication skills. 
  • Experience working with Agile and Stories.

Quality Assurance Analyst

Position Summary:

The Quality Assurance Analyst will participate in all test activities within the Quality Assurance testing for Dealfind.  This position will work closely with Developers, Project Management and business users to develop, maintain and execute quality assurance testing procedures. 

Responsibilities:

  • Work with development to ensure programs operate according program specifications.
  • Analyze software defects and test results to identify root cause.  
  • Document test results and prepare test scenarios for development.
  • Maintain functional specifications and participate in estimation of work.
  • Create and improve test strategies.  
  • Testing experience with automation using selenium or similar frameworks. 
  • Prepare and maintain test plans, test scripts, and test cases for both manual and automated testing procedures. 
  • Execute functional, negative, regression, system integration (SIT), security, performance, resiliency, browser compatibility and performance testing.
  • Develop test cases and test scripts for black and white box testing.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in quality assurance and quality control with focus on automated and load test development, methodologies, and functions a must.
  • Strong knowledge of computer networks.
  • Strong communications skills.
  • Strong attention to detail while still seeing the big picture.
  • Comfortable working in an agile environment.
  • Ability to balance multiple projects and priorities with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge of JavaScript a bonus but not a requirement.
  • Business Analyst experience an asset.
  • Development experience an asset.
  • Experience with Ant, Cruise-control, Hudson, or similar systems a bonus.

Internet Marketing Consultant for MenuPalace.com 

Established in 1999 MenuPalace.com is North America's most widely used Restaurant and Hospitality Directory.  With more than 9,000 listings throughout the United States and Canada, MenuPalace.com is the website of choice for Restaurant and Hospitality information online. MenuPalace.com also provides web design and internet marketing services.  In 2009, the same founders of MenuPalace started Dealfind.  Just like the enthuasiastic individuals we are looking to join the Dealfind team, we are also looking for an outside sales representative to join the MenuPalace team!  

Position Summary:

The Internet Marketing Consultant will be responsible for meeting and exceeding sales targets related to the hospitality industry within the Great Toronto Area.  The ideal candidate is a reliable, experienced and driven sales professional with a background in the hospitality industry.  We are looking for a balanced “farmer” and “hunter” in this role with the opportunity to make between $50,000 to $80,000+ per year.  

Responsibilities:

  • Meet and exceed a minimum sales target of $21,750 per month relating to sales activity in the hospitality industry within the Great Toronto Area.
  • Visit new and existing clients on a daily basis.
  • Provide high levels of customer service to existing and potential clients.
  • Maintain accurate and reliable forecasts and sales notes in Salesforce.com.
  • Constantly “hunt” and prospect new clients.
  • Maintain and “farm” current existing clients by monitoring daily performance and taking corrective measures when necessary to ensure continued productivity and sales growth. 
  • Work with the Accounting department on A/R and invoices.
  • Liaise with the Production and Development department to create profile pages and listings.
  • Perform all relevant and reasonable additional tasks as directed by the senior sales management team.

Qualifications: 

  • 4+ years of inside and outside sales experience.
  • Prior experience in the hospitality industry and/or a dynamic work environment.
  • Driven and motivated with a “hunter” mentality. 
  • Excellent communication skills – in person, on the phone, and through email.
  • Ability to speak Mandarin or Cantonese is an asset but not required.
  • Strong knowledge of sale cycles and processes.
  • Must be able to work independently in a dynamic and fast-paced work environment. 
  • Must have valid G-level license in order to drive the company vehicles. 

Location:

  • Toronto, ON – Don Mills & Eglinton
  • This role will constantly visit new and existing clients.  Traveling in and around the GTA is 70%+ of the role.
