Alongside 75 acres of tranquil wilderness overlooking Blackstrap Lake lies the Cedar Lodge Hotel and Convention Centre, a charming, rustic resort offering visitors the opportunity to immerse themselves in the quiet sounds and sights of nature.
You'll love spending the night in your relaxing lodge, which boasts a number of fabulous amenities to enjoy. Get in a morning workout at the on-site exercise facility and gym, which also has sports equipment available for guest use, or head out to the baseball diamond to practice your batting. In the evening, enjoy a barbeque or make use of the outdoor fire pit, indulging in a good old fashioned campfire singalong.
An abundance of fields, trails, ravines and the man-made Blackstrap Lake await your exploration, where you're likely to spot a wide array of wildlife, including foxes, deer, moose, and eagles. Walk a short distance to nearby Blackstrap Mountain, which is one of the only man-made mountains in the world, constructed for the 1971 Canada Winter Games. Next, venture down to the private beach for some dock fishing — the lake is home to pike, walleye, pickerel, and more.
The Blackstrap Provincial Park is just a few minutes away, and here you'll find an array of activities including mountain biking, fishing, hiking, boating, wind sailing, cross country skiing and camping. In addition, just across the lake lies The Resort Village of Shields, which boasts a 9-hole golf course you can enjoy. Return to Cedar Lodge for lunch, where you and your companion will be presented with a variety of delicious dishes — sandwiches, soups, salads, and more. Once you've filled up for the afternoon, set back out into your breathtaking surroundings and further explore the nearby trails and wildlife.

Come for the peace and tranquility. Experience renewed vitality. You deserve it! This perfectly situated Saskatchewan Hotel is simple and clean with a certain rustic charm… the atmosphere will relax and rejuvenate you. The tranquil setting, off-the-beaten path, has a great attraction for those requiring a private, secluded, focused experience. Nature walks will take you through beautiful ravines or a visit to the beach. Dining includes a most delicious array of foods spectacularly displayed in a manner you cannot easily forget.

I don't think there is any other retreat locale (and I have been to a number of them) quite like this one. Cedar Lodge is a wonderfully rustic complex that overlooks scenic Blackstrap Lake and its beautiful surrounding woodlands. The rooms are well appointed and very clean; all of the normal amenities are provided. What is really striking about the place, however, are the staff and the menu. There is an ease and natural friendliness in the manner of the staff, who make every effort to meet one's needs, including providing specially requested meals, meals at odd times of the day, and snacks (home-made cookies or muffins, for example) at mid-morning and mid-afternoon. The food tastes as if it were cooked by your mother (or father!) and there is much variety in the meals (and snacks) served from day to day. It is no exaggeration for me to say that I haven't had Yorkshire pudding (the real thing!) like that in years!

Love this place, a little piece of heaven. We had a retreat at Cedar Lodge and it was so peaceful and the food was out of this world. I highly recommend this spot.
